The Enemy WithinAmerica's Greatest ThreatPhil Maxwell 10/24/2007
Not to say that Iran’s support of terrorism against and nuclear arms programs aren’t genuine threats, but I think the biggest threat to U.S. security is within our own hallowed halls of government:
John’s vision of the monstrous political machine destined to ultimately spawn the antichrist reveals a group of ten conspirators set to launch the greatest coup d’etat of all time against the greatest nation in the world. The most immediate purpose of their attack will be to overthrow the power of the people represented by the harlot so they can assume autonomous rule themselves. Their ultimate aim, though, will be to elevate their master, the antichrist, to power. These supposed public servants are truly his servants, though that will no doubt be concealed, as will their own guilt in causing the catastrophe. The two witnesses will undoubtedly reveal all this, but only those who believe the word of God, the main evidence against them, will hear them. I believe these ten are probably in view at this time, but I don’t think their identity can be known for certain until their works reveal them. Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld are likely in the mix, since they developed and have coordinated their “shadow government” program for nearly four decades. This program maintains rosters of three alternate groups of people tasked with assuming the powers of the federal government in the event of an emergency such as John described. Another interesting clue is the statement that seems to allude to them later in the conclusion of this passage, “your merchants were the great men of the earth,” especially considering how heavily Bush has loaded key positions of his administration with rich and powerful business leaders. It is also true that no other presidential administration has ever displayed so much utter contempt for the rule of the constitutional democracy they are supposed to serve, as is also the case with the ten in John’s vision. Whoever they are, they are more than just a threat to U.S. security: They have a date with destiny to fulfill God’s will in dispensing great wrath against His arrogant and unfaithful people like Nebuchadnezzar did in Jeremiah’s day. All the anti-American governments and groups in the world combined aren’t as great a threat to this country as they are, and, worse still, there isn’t a thing anyone can do besides brace for the worst. That is, nothing can be done short of America rising to the level of vile Nineveh in Jonah’s day by uniting in repentance for our great sins, but I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for that to happen. |
