| Daniel 7:8, 11, 20, 8:25 - "...this horn
[ruler] possessed...a mouth uttering great boasts...I kept looking because
of the sound of the boastful words which the horn was speaking...that horn
which had...a mouth uttering great boasts"
"...he will magnify himself in his heart"
(NASB) |
From afar, Daniel described events in our near future centering on a man
whose boasting was so great that the imagery given to portray him seems almost a
comical exaggeration -- a small horn with a big mouth. The "small horn"
here is related to political position, not physical stature and simply means
that he will be a second-tier or below politician who at some time will begin
commanding a lot of public attention for saying outrageous things.
(Note: Since I began taking note about two weeks ago or three weeks before
the election, Governor Schwarzenegger has been in the mainstream news every day,
bar none, for various things. During the same time, governors of other
major states are scantly found on the news in these final days of the
presidential campaign unless with one of the candidates, and that includes even
the President's brother, Jeb, of the critical "swing state" of Florida. )
In Arnold Schwarzenegger's Own Words...
"I will not change. Because if you are successful and you
change, you are an idiot."
"I know how to sell something. I had to sell bodybuilding when
nobody knew what bodybuilding was in this country -- and we did it. And I
had to sell myself as an action hero, which wasn't easy ...And I did it, because I sold myself to the American people and the people
around the world. And the same is here. It's up to me to sell to the people and
to convince the people that I can do the job.''
"I was born to be a leader. I love the fact that millions of people look up to
me."
"I knew I was a winner back in the late sixties. I knew I
was destined for great things. People will say that kind of thinking is totally
immodest. I agree. Modesty is not a word that applies to me in any way - I hope
it never will."

Clearly, this will be an extraordinary individual who is the personification
of proud boasting, a man with no sense of humility or shame, who really does, in
his own heart, believe himself superior to others; he will exude confidence and
ability. Apparently, most people of the world will agree and, like the
Germans of post-World War I, enthusiastically trade their souls for the false
promise of hope offered on the bandwagon of his personality cult. While
yet to be manifested circumstances will set the stage for his relatively sudden
rise to power, the ability to be as openly prideful and believably boastful as
the Bible indicates of this man represents a rather extraordinary personality
trait and skill. |
