Go Up to the Mountain!

by Phil Maxwell, August 1997

To my dear brothers and sisters in the Messiah, may the blessings of grace through the blood of Yahshua, and peace in the Holy Spirit be upon you in full measure.

The days are short until the Lord Yahshua comes forth to begin the final gathering of His people prior to establishing His kingdom upon this earth.

Wickedness in this world has come near to a full, and the first step of the harvest has already begun: the children of the wicked are being uprooted and gathered even now. A sword is going forth amongst the people of God, separating the wheat and tares. In response, the enemy is stirring up his people against the truth, and against those whom God has chosen to speak the truth.

Many of God's people are scattered amongst the children of the devil, they are fearful and vulnerable, but no man can pluck them out of the Lord's hand. They will be tempted and tried as they hear the voice of the Shepherd, but they will hear, nonetheless, for God has given them ears to hear. Some will even rise up in violent opposition, yielding to the flesh and the tempter, but they will still hear, and in the days to come will be harvested into the Lord's barn. Some will pretentiously seem to hear and respond, as well, but will be shown for the devils they are in the days to come. There is nothing hidden that shall not be revealed, even the darkest secrets in the hearts of men. When the harvest is finished, every grain of wheat will be gathered into the Lord's barn, and every stalk of the tares will be utterly burned. So it is written, and so shall it be.

Oh, hear me children of God, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. The Lord is coming to bid those who have not been given work to go into His field in this last hour. The time has come, my brothers and sisters, to go up to the mountain and gather the materials for rebuilding the holy Temple of God. Go up to the mountain, I say again, leaving all your earthly cares behind, and God will bless you. Pray to the Lord of the harvest that He will stir up the spirit of His people to rebuild the Temple of God.

What shall we do? Oh, my brothers and sisters, you must hear this, for the time is short. The abomination is already standing in the holy place, and has been for some time. Have you not read that the servants of the Lord slept until shortly before the harvest, only noticing all the children of the devil in the Lord's field when they awoke? The abomination, the spirit of antichrist, was sown in the church before the holy apostles were killed, nearly 2,000 years ago.

The sign we are instructed to watch for is not the entrance of the abomination into the holy place, but the awareness of it by the servants of the Lord.

How long, children of God, shall we sit in fear of Goliath, cowering at his continual mocking? How long shall we endure the indignation of Satan, who accuses us night and day, drawing our attention to the things of this world, instead of seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness? I say this to our shame! When shall we learn the lesson of David as a child, and stand up to our enemy saying, "Who is this uncircumcised Phillistine, that he should mock the people of the living God?" Or of Moses, standing before Pharaoh demanding that he let God's people go, that they may worship the one, true God in Spirit and in Truth? How do we justify living in and for the flesh, especially considering the price which was paid for us, while God Almighty's temple lay in ruins?

In not too many days, the Temple shall be completed and measured, except for the outer court. The outer court will follow, and later, the entire holy city, the new Jerusalem, will be gloriously finished. If we won't put our hands to the task, who will? I say to you, that God will raise up children of Abraham of stones it those who are bidden refuse to come and do the work on His House. We are bidden to the wedding of the Lamb, and to the feast that follows. Every place shall be filled before the feast commences, for so it is written, and so shall it be.

Like the first Adam, we have but one commandment to keep, upon which hinge all of the law and prophets. If we will keep this commandment, God shall circumcise our hearts, writing His spiritual law thereupon. Out of our inner beings shall flow fountains of living water! Rather than being under the yoke of bondage to a law written on tables of stone, we shall have the law flowing out from our hearts, sealed for all eternity by the hand of God the Father.

The snare is set, the hour of temptation is upon us; how shall we escape? As the call went to Noah, so children of God, those who have ears to hear, the call goes to you. Turn your life to building the ark, a foreshadow of the eternal temple of God Almighty, and you will be spared. Behold, there is an open door which no man can shut set before you. Within is the sanctuary of God's people who follow the Lamb wherever He leads, and keep the commandments of God. These will have the spirit of prophecy, which is the testimony of Yahshua, and will partake in the completion of His ministry upon the earth before establishing His kingdom. Within is the bridegroom's chamber, he shall come forth as one flesh in His bride, a new and perfect man! They shall cast Satan down, putting their faith in the blood of the Lamb, not the works of the flesh. They shall join one to another as the Lord commanded, and preach the gospel of the kingdom of God to the entire world, empowered by the latter rain outpouring of the Spirit of God such as has never been known.

To my friends, may I say that this message speaks to me and breaks my heart. I know the will of God, but understand that the fulfillment of it can only be on both an individual and collective basis, and that this can only be by the hand of the Lord stirring up the hearts of His people. There were only a few who were given a measure of the Spirit to sustain them while they tarried at Jerusalem, awaiting the promised outpouring of the Spirit in Peter's day, and so it is now.

I don't know exactly who those few are, but the Lord does. I will say, however, that we have no more received the fullness of the Spirit now than the Israelites had received the promised land while they were in Egypt. As in Egypt, which was a place where the Israelites were cared for and blessed by God (through Joseph, I might add), there comes a time when God's people have to go forth to receive the promise. At that time, if we try to cleave to the blessing of yesterday, it becomes a curse today, and more so with each passing day, thereafter. This is what is meant by the Lord's instructions for us to hate our lives. Even though, speaking for myself, my life has been abundantly blessed, as the Lord stirs up my heart to go forth to the wilderness, to worship God in Spirit and Truth, this life that has been so blessed, that I cleave to, becomes a curse, thorns representing the snare of the cares of this life; an obstruction to attaining the blessings of God.

The error of God's people through the ages, the snare they have fallen victim to time and time again, has been in misappropriating God's blessings, either through complete misuse or through getting out of step with God's timing. Manna was great for a day, but stank fiercely and bred worms the next day (unless it was the Sabbath). Much of what the serpent told Eve about the tree of knowledge was correct, but it wasn't the time nor place for man to take that step. God spoiled the Egyptians to the Israelites advantage, but they used all that gold to make a blasphemous idol. I could go on and on, but the point is clear. The lusts or cravings of our flesh don't hurt us at all by themselves, but only when they conceive with temptation, bringing forth sin, which is rebellion to God.

We have a life that has been given to us by God, and for His pleasure. Our whole duty in life is to serve Him and keep His commandments. Like a tree branches forth, our lives have branched forth to have many obligations, possessions, relationships, and other things, none of which are necessarily wicked in the least. Nonetheless, we were not blessed with our earthly lives, much less the abundant life in the Spirit, for the purpose of these things.

We are to serve God and keep His commandments, that is our whole duty, that is the only reason we exist.

Therefore, if God requires anything and everything of this life, what shall we say? Shall we cleave to our creature comforts, our earthly obligations, our earthly relationships, our earthly anything? No, God forbid! Serve God and keep His commandments! As Job blessed God, even in his trials, so must we. As Joshua said, "as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD," so must we. As the Lord Yahshua prayed, "not my will, but thy will be done," so must we!

The Lord's sheep will hear His voice, and they will follow Him. Those who have ears to hear must awaken from their slumber, for the bridegroom is coming. There is yet a distance to go, and the way is treacherous and dark, but the Shepherd will lead, provide for, and protect His flock. The oil of His Spirit will light the way through the Word of Truth. Will you turn away from Him now, as the foolish virgins did? Only Yahshua has the words of life, for He is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. Will you be ensnared by the cares of this life, thinking there is time when there is not. Will you be deceived into thinking the way is easy, or that the bridegroom will come to where you are now? Not those who have ears to hear; not those who follow the Lamb wherever He leads.

Do not misappropriate the blessing of the soul nor the Spirit that you have been given. It is the Father's pleasure to give you the kingdom, if you will be His beloved Son's disciple. If you will be Yahshua's disciple, you must forsake all. Are you rich? Does this cause you to fear? Are you saying, but how can I do this? My friends, what I speak of is impossible for man, but easily within the reach of God, who created our entire beings, body, soul, and spirit. He is well able to make the way straight, to level the mountains and raise the valleys, even cast off those subtle obstacles that dwell within our own flesh. Submit your will to Him who can save you, and all things are possible. The work that is to be done will be done by His Spirit, not by might nor power of men. Go up to the mountain of prayer, the mountain of complete surrender to the Almighty. Seek that His will be done on earth, in your heart and the hearts of all His people, that His kingdom would come. Seek Him while there is time, ask Him for wisdom and discernment for the sake of His kingdom, and you shall receive according to your request.
