Christian Views on HomosexualityIs homosexuality worse than other forms of immorality?by Phil Maxwell, December 1998[From Messiah's Simple Truth Forum] Is Homosexuality Reasonable 209.19.130.131 writes: "Is Homosexuality Reasonable?" a discourse on the "naturalness" of homosexuality - by Jeff Pierson "Come now, and let us reason saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Isaiah 1:18 (KJV) Let us reason together this issue of homosexuality. Let us start by saying that this is about the actual act of sex. Although a loving relationship between two heterosexuals is not just about sex, this issue, at its roots, is about the ability morally and legally to have a sexual relationship with a person of the same sex. Now let us look at the marvel of the human body. Some suppose it is a designed creation. Others say it is a product of evolution. The basis of design would suggest that we are here to procreate for the pleasure and benefit of a Creator, The basic principle behind the theory of evolution is simply, life evolves. It becomes stronger, smarter, more complex, while the weaker of the species die out. Evolution is based on a furthering of the species, otherwise known as "Survival of the Fittest." Now, let us look at the methods of intercourse. The options are anal intercourse, oral intercourse, mastur-bation, and vaginal intercourse. Only vaginal intercourse further the principles of "creation-procreation" and only vaginal intercourse furthers the Theory of Evolution as it has always taken 1 human male and 1 human female to procreate, to "further the species." This is not to say that other sexual acts between hetero-sexual couples are outside natural parameters, but rather that it is obvious because of design that vaginal, heterosexual intercourse is the only "natural" sexual relationship. This leads to two possible conclusions: #1, That homosexuality is a genetic defect or a gene mutation. The theory that homosexuality is genetically based is just that, theory. There is little or no reliable research that supports this position, in fact most research seems to point towards societal conditioning, psychological and childhood development problems, and mostly choice,. Further, the idea of genetic defect or gene mutation, this idea that there is no choice flies in the face of a Creator. Evolutionary reasoning would say that either men will start having babies or homosexuality would disappear if not for societal and governmental influences promoting homosexuality. #2, Homosexuality is a choice and has no legitimate, natural basis. Both the Theory of Evolution and Creation Science strongly support my conclusion that homosexuality is unreasonable and "un-natural". The argument that homo-sexuality is moral or should be legal because it is natural cannot be true. So why does homosexuality exist? Why is it being accepted as natural when every reasonable argument tells us it is not? How will our view of homosexuality affect our view on bestiality and incest? Most pro-homosexual groups will say something like, "incest is wrong, it involves children and there is no love!" I respond, "what if the children are adults, what if it is consensual?" Or they will say, "What about bestiality? Animals can not love!" I respond to this by saying, "Can we not feel affection towards animals and vice-versa? Most homosexuals seem to base love on this feeling, this emotional fulfillment." I challenge you to answer these questions, but base your conclusions on the objective evidence and not on subjective emotions and "feel good" societies predisposition to just accept people the way they are, regardless of the consequences to the individuals and society. Let me say this in conclusion. It is not my intent to force homosexuals from behaving this way nor do I think it is possible make anyone behave the way I think they should. My intent is to show that homosexuality is not "natural" and that it is not the local, State or Federal Government's job to promote homosexuality through hiring quotas or through our educational system. Being homosexual is not the same as being handicapped, it is not the same as being black. It is a choice and it destroys lives and nations from within. There is hope. The solution is to pray and to educate ourselves while maintaining a loving, disciplined, attitude towards those who practice this behavior. Jeff Pierson Really no room for debate here 209.154.110.117 writes: Greetings, Your logical conclusion to the question "Is homosexuality natural" is a good arguement, but in fact has holes. To say that if all mankind were to become this way, that mankind would cease to exist as we know it, is not necessarily true. Man now can create in test tubes what it took a male and female to do. Thus, the power of pro-creation has left the realm of the natural, and entered the realm of the unnatural, where man sits as God showing himself that he is God. As for me, there is no sense entering into the arguement with supporters of the homosexual movement on this basis. You may win the arguement, but not the soul. The only way that a homosexual will ever be able to break free of the sin that holds him in bondage is the same way that all who sin find freedom. Through the death of Yahshua on the cross, and the new life offered as a free gift to all through the risen Savior. God is not a respector of persons, and sin is sin, no matter what degree a person is involved. There is only one hope for all of us who fall short of the glory of God, Yahshua the Messiah. I say this because there are many hate mongers out there who feel they must bash homosexuals every chance awarded to them. God doesn't hate the people, he hates the sin. This should be our heart as well. Those who dislike the equality rights movement of the homosexual agenda really ought to consider the spirit behind it, who is driving it, and who is allowing it. Sodom had its day, and so will the nations that forsake God, who do not want to retain Him in their knowledge. Thus, it is reasonable to conclude that as more and more of this nation turn their backs on Almighty God, that the most hideous and disgusting acts that mankind can think of will wax worse and worse. In Christ, Eric Halleck The Truth has little to do with homosexuality 209.154.114.11 writes: Thanks for your message, Jeff, and I certainly agree that a government that defends and promotes homosexuality is usurping the authority vested in it by the Creator. What I would add is that to isolate the issue of homosexuality in debate is somewhat futile. There really isn't any reasonable argument that it is sinful behavior to engage in sexual activities outside of the context of marriage, as well as the fact that the notion of "same-sex marriages" is an abomination. In the same way that I don't consider late-term abortions any less morally reprehensible than the seemingly benign "morning after" abortion pill, I would hesitate before ascribing a unique status to homosexuality as a sin. In other words, abortion is murder of a human being no matter how it is accomplished, and sexual sin is just that no matter what context is found. Thus, I and most people I know are just as guilty of sexual sin as those who engage in homosexual behavior. Thus, I conclude, that the issue isn't whether or not homosexuality is sin, it is whether Yahweh is God and the Scriptures express His judgment. If He is God Almighty, the ultimate judge of all men, then homosexual activity as well as everything sexual outside of marriage (including thoughts), are sin. Refusal to acknowledge this and receive the grace of God bought by Christ's blood is the lie that yields what the Father hates the most - the damnation of people's souls. I would also point out that the promotion of this basic delusion in all contexts (there are many) is spiritually rooted, as in lying spirits. All the rationalized arguments that attempt to justify sin are fruits, not roots, of people's refusal to acknowledge that Yahweh is God and His Word is true. My point is that there is an often unseen danger in highlighting particular sins of others, not that this necessarily reflects on your message. That danger is that doing so diminishes our own perception of equally damning sin in ourselves, as the Pharisees did. So, I agree that homosexuality is sinful, I just think it important to qualify that observation with the fact that my own sin is just as bad. Yahweh is God, His Word is Truth, and His Son is the Messiah and Savior of man, all of whom have fallen short of His glory. Throwing no stones in Missouri, Phil Maxwell
